How to connect a Temu seller account to your inventory system (UK)

Everything a UK Temu seller needs to connect their account to an inventory platform — including the direct courier label piece that most platforms don't support.

TL;DR

  • Get your API key and secret from the Temu Seller Central developer area (Settings → API management).
  • Paste them into your inventory platform's Temu connector. MaxInvent validates them in real time.
  • Trigger a one-off listings pull to get your Temu catalogue into the platform, then map each Temu goods ID to your internal SKU.
  • Enable stock sync (pushes your internal stock to Temu) and order import (pulls Temu orders every 10-15 min).
  • Enable direct Temu courier label purchase if you want to dispatch from the same screen — MaxInvent is currently the only UK platform that supports this natively.

Why this matters

Connecting Temu to inventory software is harder than connecting eBay or Amazon. Temu uses a category-specific API, rates are contractual per seller, and the courier label flow is unusual — you buy labels through Temu itself rather than via a third-party courier account. Many UK inventory platforms either don't support Temu at all or support listings + orders but not direct courier labels, which means you end up printing labels manually in Temu's back office and losing the automation benefit.

Goal of this playbook

By the end of this guide you will have your Temu seller account fully connected to an inventory platform: listings synced, stock pushed, orders imported, and labels printable from a single dispatch screen.

Before you start

You’ll need:

  • A live Temu seller account with at least one listed product
  • Seller Central admin access (needed to generate API credentials)
  • An inventory platform with a Temu connector — this guide uses MaxInvent
  • If you want courier label purchasing: a funded Temu wallet / balance sufficient for label costs

The playbook

Generate your Temu API credentials

5 min

Log into Temu Seller Central, go to Settings → API Management (some accounts show it as Developer Settings), and click Create Application. Name it something you'll recognise like 'MaxInvent integration' and request the scopes: products/read, products/write, orders/read, inventory/write, logistics (for direct courier labels).

  • Copy both the API Key and the API Secret — you'll need both.
  • The Secret is only shown once. If you lose it, you'll need to rotate the key and reconnect.
  • Approval for the logistics scope can take 24-48 hours for newer seller accounts.

Pitfall

Do not use the shared test credentials from Temu's documentation — they only work in their sandbox environment and won't pull your live orders.

Add the credentials to your inventory platform

2 min

In MaxInvent, go to Marketplaces → Temu → Connect. Paste your API Key and Secret and select your region (UK). MaxInvent validates the credentials immediately by calling Temu's seller-info endpoint — you should see your shop name and seller ID appear within seconds.

  • If validation fails, the most common cause is a region mismatch. Temu's UK API base differs from the EU one.
  • MaxInvent stores credentials encrypted at rest in your isolated Temu database — they never mix with other tenants' data.

Pull your Temu catalogue into the platform

5-20 min depending on catalogue size

Trigger the one-off Pull Listings job. MaxInvent fetches every active Temu goods ID, along with variants, images, descriptions, price and current stock level. Catalogues up to 500 SKUs typically pull in under 5 minutes; catalogues of 5,000+ SKUs may take 20 minutes.

  • The pull only runs once on-demand. Ongoing changes sync automatically via the scheduled cron.
  • Temu enforces a strict rate limit — MaxInvent throttles requests at 4 per second to stay under it.

Pitfall

If you have more than one Temu seller account (rare for UK sellers), connect them as separate channels. Merging them into one connector will cause goods-ID collisions.

Map Temu goods IDs to your internal SKUs

10-30 min for typical UK seller (under 1,000 SKUs)

Stock sync only works if every Temu goods ID is linked to an internal product. MaxInvent auto-matches by SKU where possible — you'll typically see 70-90% matched automatically. For the rest, use the mapping screen: search by name, select the internal product, click Link. You can bulk-match by uploading a CSV of goods-ID → SKU pairs.

  • Products that are Temu-exclusive and not in your main catalogue can be imported as new products with one click.
  • Unmapped goods IDs will still import orders, but stock won't sync until they're mapped.

Enable stock sync and order import

2 min

Turn on two automated jobs: Sync Inventory (pushes your internal stock levels to Temu every 30 min) and Import Orders (pulls new Temu orders every 10-15 min). MaxInvent uses the same stock pool across Amazon, eBay, TikTok Shop, Temu and Groupon — so stock decrement on any channel immediately reflects on all the others.

  • Stock sync has a configurable buffer — keep 5-10% buffer stock off the channel to protect against burst sales.
  • Order import runs every 10 minutes by default. Most UK sellers don't need faster — Temu orders don't have SLAs like Amazon Prime.

Enable direct Temu courier label purchase

5 min

This is the step most platforms skip. In MaxInvent, go to Couriers → Temu Direct and click Enable. Ensure your Temu wallet is funded. From this point, any Temu order in the dispatch queue shows a one-click Buy Label button that purchases the label directly from Temu using your balance — no need to export CSVs, no need to use the Temu back office, no separate courier account required.

  • Label cost is deducted from your Temu wallet balance, not a courier account.
  • The printed label is identical to the one Temu generates internally, so there's no risk of mis-scans.
  • You can still use your own couriers for Temu orders if you prefer — the direct label option is additive, not mandatory.

Pitfall

If your Temu wallet runs out of balance mid-dispatch, the Buy Label button fails with a 402-style error. Set up low-balance alerts in Temu Seller Central.

How to know it worked

After following every step, you should be able to verify these outcomes:

  • Place a test order on Temu (or wait for a real one) and confirm it appears in MaxInvent's order queue within 15 minutes
  • Reduce stock on one mapped product by 1 unit in MaxInvent and verify the change propagates to Temu within 30 minutes
  • Click Buy Label on a Temu order and confirm the label PDF downloads without error and the order moves to Dispatched
  • Check your Temu wallet balance — it should have decremented by the label cost

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect Temu to inventory software without a developer?+

Yes. Temu's API uses a simple Key + Secret pair — no OAuth callback, no domain verification, no digital signatures. Anyone with admin access to Temu Seller Central can generate the credentials. MaxInvent's connector handles the rest visually.

How often does Temu stock sync?+

In MaxInvent, Temu stock syncs every 30 minutes by default. You can push a stock update manually from the product page if you need it to propagate immediately. Temu's API doesn't support webhooks for stock, so polling is the standard approach.

Do I need a third-party courier account to dispatch Temu orders?+

No — this is the unique thing about Temu. You can buy shipping labels directly from Temu using your Temu wallet balance, no Royal Mail / Evri / DPD account required. MaxInvent is currently the only UK inventory platform that supports this natively; every other platform requires you to either use your own courier or print from Temu's back office manually.

What happens to Temu orders during platform downtime?+

Orders remain in Temu Seller Central and are safely imported once the platform reconnects. MaxInvent's Pass 2 date-range fetch specifically guards against this — any orders missed during a downtime window are back-filled on the next successful sync.

Can I map one Temu goods ID to a bundle of internal SKUs?+

Yes. Use the bundle mapping feature — when the Temu goods ID sells, stock is deducted from each component SKU in the ratio you specify, and the order goes into dispatch as a single shippable unit.

Is Temu's UK seller API rate-limited?+

Yes. The practical limit is around 4 requests per second per seller account, with occasional burst tolerance. MaxInvent throttles automatically — you won't hit the limit unless you're syncing a catalogue of 50,000+ SKUs.
