The failure mode: one browser tab per marketplace
The default arrangement in a growing operation is a tab for Temu, a tab for TikTok Shop and a printed list for direct orders. It fails in a specific way. Nobody can see the total workload, so nobody can staff it. Two people pick the same parcel because there is no record of what is in flight. And the person who knows which orders are urgent is not the person holding the scanner.
A collection board fixes the visibility problem first and the sequencing problem second. Every job, whatever channel it came from, appears on one board. A manager releases work to a named picker. The picker sees only their own queue.
Separate the label rules, not the queue
Temu and TikTok Shop each impose their own labelling and handover requirements, and those steps genuinely differ. The physical work does not. Walking to a shelf and picking an item is the same job regardless of which platform sold it, so splitting the queue by channel means walking the same aisle three times in an afternoon.
The arrangement that respects both facts is one board with channel-aware steps: shared picking, channel-specific labelling and handover.
How the board runs, step by step
- Orders arrive from the connected channels and appear as collection jobs on one board, with their source visible.
- A manager reviews the board and releases jobs to named pickers. Every released job now has an owner, so the board shows what is in progress rather than only what is outstanding.
- Where many parcels are identical — common after a Temu promotion or a TikTok livestream — they are grouped into a bulk label run, printed together and picked once.
- Pickers work their own queue on a handheld, scanning as they go.
- At the bench, each line is scanned into the parcel. A mismatch blocks the pack rather than being taped shut.
- The parcel is dispatched through the route the channel requires, and the handover is verified rather than assumed.
What the board does not do
It is worth being clear about the boundary. This is a release-and-queue model, not a wave-picking engine. MaxInvent does not currently offer marketplace wave picking, route-optimised pick paths or multi-bench print station assignment, and jobs are collected by an available print agent rather than pinned to a named bench. If your constraint is pickers spending most of their time walking, that is a different problem — see whether you need a WMS.
Hardware: start on phones
The board and the picker queue run in an installable web app, added to a device home screen from a browser. It accepts input from a phone camera and from keyboard-wedge Android scanners, so you can test whether the workflow suits your warehouse before ordering hardware. Add rugged devices where the environment actually requires them — cold stores, dusty areas, all-day continuous scanning — rather than as a default.
